This project was developed by members of our team while working at the design studio RUCA.
First Mode is a technology company that specializes in solving complex engineering problems and developing innovative solutions for clients in industries such as space exploration, mining, and renewable energy.
The task was to give a visual refresh to their brand. This included the redesign of their website, not only by enhancing the design of it, but also by improving its the user interactions.

The project began by applying the newly updated brand guidelines to create development-ready, responsive designs for desktop, tablet, and mobile. Wireframes were first produced with a minimalist and content-focused approach, prioritizing clarity, hierarchy, and usability. This low-fidelity structure established a strong foundation for a clean, modern interface aligned with the brand.
From these wireframes, a high-fidelity component system was built to reflect the brand’s new visual language. Reusable UI elements were designed and assembled into desktop layouts, ensuring consistency across screens while making the designs easier to implement. These same components and styles were then adapted for mobile and tablet, reorganizing layouts and optimizing interactions for different screen sizes.
Through continuous feedback and iteration, component variations were refined to improve usability and better support user needs. This iterative, system-based approach resulted in a scalable, brand-aligned, and developer-friendly design system that strengthened First Mode’s visual identity while delivering a clear, intuitive, and consistent experience across all devices.
