About the project

This project was developed by members of our team while working at the design studio RUCA. Committee of 100 is an organization of Chinese Americans across business, government, academia, and the arts, bringing influential voices together to address key issues in U.S.–China relations. The goal of the project was to refresh the visual identity of their website while improving clarity, usability, and user interactions across the experience.

The process

The project began by translating the client’s desktop visual designs into a complete, development-ready system. The existing screens were reviewed, missing flows and elements were identified, and a structured style guide was created defining typography, color palettes, and grid systems. Using atomic design principles, a reusable component library was built, forming the foundation for all layouts and interactions.

With this system in place, the designs were rebuilt into clean, consistent, and developer-friendly layouts. Each screen was constructed using standardized components, ensuring visual consistency and technical clarity, while the mobile experience was designed in parallel by adapting the same system to smaller screens and responsive breakpoints.

Throughout the process, continuous collaboration with the development team allowed missing screens to be added, issues to be resolved, and improvements to be implemented efficiently. This approach resulted in a scalable, maintainable, and cohesive digital experience that strengthened the Committee of 100’s brand and delivered a more intuitive experience for users.
